Our Work

Climate Change Rural and Slum Awareness

At the CCSHDI, we are committed to ensuring that the most vulnerable communities, particularly those in rural and slum areas, are equipped with the knowledge and tools to address the growing threat of climate change. These communities are often disproportionately affected by environmental degradation, yet they have limited access to healthcare and resources that can help them adapt to the changing climate.

Transformative Use of Data for Climate Action

We recognize that data is the driving force behind impactful climate solutions. In an era where climate change poses increasing threats to public health and the environment, the transformative use of data enables us to make informed decisions, track progress, and create actionable solutions for a more sustainable future.

How CCSHDI is Using Data for Change

  • We partner with healthcare providers and communities to collect and analyse health data in relation to climate impacts. This allows us to develop targeted interventions that reduce health risks and improve resilience in the face of climate change.
  • By tracking energy usage in different settings and waste management, we identify areas for improvement and introduce sustainable practices like solar energy, recycling, and eco-friendly waste disposal methods
  • Using analytical models, we are able to forecast future climate-related health challenges, enabling us to design preventive strategies and allocate resources to the areas that need them most
  • We engage communities in data collection efforts, ensuring that our solutions are locally tailored and responsive to real-world conditions. The insights gathered enable us to educate local leaders, guide policy decisions, and advocate for systemic change at the intersection of climate and healthcare.

Our work

Healthcare watch

Our Healthcare Watch programs are designed to track and engage with the latest global research, ensuring that our strategies and interventions are grounded in cutting-edge science. We believe that staying informed about emerging trends and conducting our research is essential to tackling the unique challenges posed by climate change and healthcare in Nigeria.

As part of our commitment to excellence, at CCSHDI, we actively monitor the latest research in the fields of climate change, public health, and sustainable healthcare. We analyze global reports, academic studies, and policy recommendations to ensure that our work is informed by the most recent developments.

In addition to staying current with global research, CCSHDI plays an active role in conducting original research to explore new gaps and unmet needs in Nigeria’s healthcare sector. Climate change has exacerbated health risks in the country, from rising temperatures to shifting disease patterns. We believe that in order to develop effective solutions, it is crucial to identify areas where local research is limited or outdated.

At CCSHDI, we understand that Nigeria faces unique healthcare challenges in the context of climate change. By conducting data-driven research, we aim to fill the gaps in knowledge, develop innovative solutions, and advocate for policies that improve the country’s resilience to environmental and health risks. Our research efforts not only contribute to the national conversation on sustainable healthcare but also provide a foundation for policy reforms that will drive long-term change.
